 |  Foster’s Daily Democrat

ROCHESTER — The historic Rochester Opera House is preparing for its annual Lottery Cocktail Party, the Regatta Gala, which is set for Friday, April 17.

The event, which begins at 5:30 p.m., offers attendees a chance to win a share of $13,000, including a $10,000 grand prize, according to a community announcement. Only 400 tickets are available.

The gala will feature cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, music, games and an auction. Proceeds will benefit the opera house’s arts education programs.

Community can support the gala

The opera house is seeking donations of goods, services, gift certificates and gift baskets for the live and silent auctions. Donors will be recognized at the event. Sponsorship opportunities and program advertisements are also available.

Opera house wins BroadwayWorld awards

The Rochester Opera House recently received 10 awards from BroadwayWorld for its production of “The Producers,” according to the announcement. The awards included Best Choreography (Brad Reinking), Best Costume Design (Lisa Gibson), Best Director of a Musical (Jenry Towle), Best Ensemble, Best Supporting Performer in a Musical (Bob Marcus), Best Performer in a Musical (Bill Hartery), Best Lighting Design (Bretton Reis) and Best Musical. Other awards included Best Supporting Performer (Jenry Towle, “Annie”) and Best Theatre for Young Audiences Production (“The Wizard of Oz”).

Upcoming performances

The Opera House has several upcoming performances, including concerts by A Man Named Cash, Vegas McGraw and performances by Feud Gone Wild and comedian Juston McKinney. “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” is scheduled for May.

Discounted tickets available

The opera house is offering $10 youth tickets, sponsored by Holy Rosary Credit Union. With the purchase of one full-price ticket, two youth tickets can be purchased for $10 each. Tickets are available at the box office in the City Hall lobby and at Stage Door Tickets and More at 1 Wakefield Street in Rochester.
