They will have a chance to draft one of the top high school or college players, but the question is, who?

Royals linked to Mississippi State slugger as a potential first-round pick
As college baseball and many southern high school baseball programs have begun their seasons, scouts are busy at work. They are looking to see who is off to a good start, who may be struggling this season, and who could be a riser on the draft board.
The Royals will have to sit back and see who the five teams before them are selecting before they make their decision. Here, Bleacher Report’s Joel Rueter suggests that Mississippi State 3B Ace Reese could be the one to take sixth overall.
“Reese posted a 1.140 OPS with 21 home runs last spring after spending his freshman season at the University of Houston. The 6″4′, 220-pound slugger has begun to separate himself from the college corner infielder pack by hitting .406/.473/.750 with 10 doubles, four home runs and 21 RBI in 16 games. The more he hits, the less a potential shift across the diamond to first base becomes a concern.”
Reese is off to a solid start for the season and is building up his draft stock with what he is doing at the plate. While he likely will not be the first college hitter selected in the draft, he has more than enough tools to at least be the second college bat taken off the board.
