Netflix‘s statement said: “Meghan’s passion for elevating everyday moments in beautiful yet simple ways inspired the creation of the As Ever brand, and we are glad to have played a role in bringing that vision to life. As it was always intended, Meghan will continue growing the brand and take it into its next chapter independently, and we look forward to celebrating how she continues to bring joy to households around the world.”
Meanwhile, Meghan’s spokesperson said that the brand was “ready to stand on its own”, with a statement reading: “As Ever is grateful for Netflix’s partnership through launch and our first year.
“We have experienced meaningful and rapid growth, and As Ever is now ready to stand on its own. We have an exciting year ahead and can’t wait to share more.”
Now, King Charles’ former butler Grant Harrold claimed that the day the change was announced was quite significant, as it happened during the same week as the anniversary of the Sussexes leaving their royal roles.
Speaking on behalf of CasinoHawks, Mr Harrold said that he believes this will be a “reflective time for the couple”.
He said: “It feels like a strange decision. To have the backing and support of a major name like Netflix feels like a positive, but it sounds like Meghan believes she doesn’t need it.
“And of course, we have to remember she’s done this kind of thing before. Her blog, The Tig, was hugely successful, so she knows what she’s doing in this area.
“It’s also interesting that it comes just a few days before the anniversary of Meghan and Harry officially leaving their royal lives behind. It’s now been six years since the couple carried out their last duty – the Commonwealth Day Service in 2020.
“I imagine this is a very reflective time for the couple each year, so I think it says a lot that this announcement has been made this week.”
Elsewhere, he discussed Meghan starting to sell her products in the UK, claiming the King would have “no issues with it”.
He added that if sent a freebie for the launch, the King would put it out during visits as an “olive branch” to show his support.
He said: “I would be surprised if the King and Queen buy any of their products, but never say never. It could be a good way of showing relations are going in the right direction.
“If she does launch in the UK, I imagine – or hope – that she would send them a few jars to try. And if she did, I think the King would definitely make sure they were out if Harry ever visits – just as a subtle little sign of support and an olive branch.”
