Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have faced a tough start to 2026, all thanks to scandals surrounding their parents Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson. Both Andrew and Sarah have been mentioned in the Epstein files, with documents revealing how close they were with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

While appearing in the Epstein files does not automatically indicate wrongdoing, the files have shown that the divorced couple remained in contact with Epstein even after he was first sentenced for child sex offences. This includes meeting up with him with Beatrice and Eugenie present.

The files also came before Andrew’s arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office, which he has been released under investigation for.

While Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35, are not to blame for the scandals surrounding their parents, it has impacted them in multiple ways. This includes the fact that they have been reportedly banned from attending certain events due to the negative attention it could generate.

Speaking to The Express, expert Nick Ede said the princesses should do three things to survive the backlash from the scandals surrounding their parents.

This is to remain “steady, dignified and quietly productive”.

Mr Ede said: “I don’t think they (Beatrice and Eugenie) should disappear from public life entirely, but avoiding anything that could look performative or attention-seeking while the spotlight on Andrew and Sarah is intense.

“Ultimately, the public tends to judge individuals on how they behave over time, not just on the family they come from.

“If they remain steady, dignified and quietly productive, the conversation about them will gradually move away from their parents and back onto their own lives.”

It is not known how much contact the princesses have with their parents at the moment.
