It was the show that catapulted Pamela Anderson into a household name and celebrated David Hasselhoff for his presence on screen.
So it is little surprise fans rejoiced when they first heard a Baywatch reboot was on its way. Now a first look of the show has been aired, it appears fans have done an abrupt U-turn on their sentiments on the series that made Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff famous.
Clearly uninpressed with the casting, with serveral influencers taking on the main roles, fans have taken to social media to slam the first look of the hit show that has been rebooted for a current audience.
When the line-up was revealed, several fans were shocked to see social media stars like Livvy Dunne and Brooks Nader among the lifeguard team – better known for their Instagram following than their acting chops.
Alongside them are Stephen Amell, Shay Mitchell and Noah Beck, with original Baywatch star David Chokachi returning as Cody Madison.

Just last September Fox announced they were “reimagining” the iconic series with a 12-episode order for the 2026-2027.
The new show follows Hobie Buchannon, who was originally played by Jeremy Jackson, as he steps into the role of Baywatch captain.
The one everybody was excited about was the casting of his dad, played by the legendary David Hasselhoff, who played Mitch Buchannon. They were joined by a new generation of lifeguards patrolling the Los Angeles coastline.
It was not the reaction Fox had hoped for when first-look photos and clips hit the internet on Wednesday.

Fans did not mince their words, laying into the reboot as a poor idea. They were furious to see influencers in lead roles instead of bonafide actors and were not too sure about the plot too.
One wrote on social media site X, “Watch it be cancelled after one season. Ain’t nobody watching this.“
Another slammed the concept saying, “Humanity has regressed since the ’90s.“
The cast’s influencer-heavy lineup didn’t go unnoticed either. “I really can’t stress how bad this script must be to cast so many influencers,“ one user complained. Another added, “Hollywood doesn’t believe in hiring actual actors or actresses anymore.“
One TV viewer said, “It’s gonna flop— you have a gymnast with no tested acting abilities?“
Meanwhile icon Pamela Anderson claims she still maintains 90% of her Baywatch physique. The 57-year-old actress is best known for her role as CJ Parker in the iconic swimsuit from 1992 to 1997.
She believes she has retained her curves from her younger years. The film star relocated from Canada to California in 1989 to pose for Playboy and later starred in Barb Wire, Borat and the TV series Stacked.
When asked by The Observer if she missed her youthful Baywatch figure, Pamela responded, “I still have my young Baywatch body! I was thinking that the other day.
Pamela holds the record for appearing in Playboy magazine 14 times, with 13 of those appearances on the cover. She also admitted she had “no idea” about the influence her iconic Baywatch red swimsuit held.
The mother-of-two shared, “You don’t have any idea when you’re taking a job.
“It wasn’t like I was calculating my career. These are the things that were presented to me and that I did.”
Nowadays, Pamela shows off her natural beauty swapping her full-face of make-up for a more understated look. She often ditches make-up at high-profile events like the BAFTAs and SAG Awards.
