Kelsea Ballerini takes a bite out of the Big Apple, announces NYC move
At “An Evening with the Grand Ole Opry” at Carnegie Hall, county singer Kelsea Ballerini announced she made the move to New York City.
Kelsea Ballerini is tasting life in the Big Apple.
The Knoxville-native singer announced her move from Tennessee to New York City during the “An Evening with the Grand Ole Opry” at Carnegie Hall on March 20. The event was just the fourth time ever that the Opry has taken on the Carnegie Hall stage.
Adorned in a glittering gown and with a guitar in hand, Ballerini announced her news to the crowd.
“Ever since I was a little kid and I got to here for the first time, I always promised myself that I would do a season or a chapter of life in the city and that season and chapter is right now,” Ballerini said.
The move comes just months after Ballerini’s newest release, “Mount Pleasant,” debuted on Nov. 14, 2025. The EP features six tracks that introspectively reflect on Ballerini’s life. The lead single is “I Sit in Parks” and was released a week ahead of the EP on Nov. 7, 2025.
“I don’t know how long it’s gonna last, but I’m really happy to be here!” Ballerini said.
What is Kelsea Ballerini’s No. 1 hit?
The Knoxville singer’s greatest hit is “Peter Pan” off her 2015 album, “The First Time.” “Peter Pan” topped the charts for two weeks straight at No. 1, beginning Sept. 24, 2016, according to Billboard.
Other Ballerini hits include “Love Me Like You Mean It,” “Miss Me More” and “Yeah Boy.”
Where is Kelsea Ballerini from?
Born in Mascot, Ballerini grew up in Knoxville and attended Central High School. Later, the singer moved to Nashville to pursue her music career. Now, she lives in New York City.
In June, Ballerini donated $10,000 to help cover the cost of a new electronic sign for her high school alma mater.
Why isn’t Kelsea Ballerini on ‘The Voice’ anymore?
Ballerini was a coach on NBC’s Season 27 of “The Voice” along with Adam Levine, John Legend and Michael Bublé. However, she did not return to the competition show for Season 28, which aired in the fall of 2025.
In a 2025 interview with “Today with Jenna & Friends,” Ballerini expressed that she needed a break and to “pump the brakes,” according to Country Living.
