It’s thought Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who are the Duchess and Duke of Sussex, no longer have a deal with Netflix, the streaming giant, after With Love, Meghan flopped
Netflix wants to “erase the chaos” of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry and instead seek a new royal alliance, an expert has claimed.
The streaming giant is believed to see a link with Princess Kate and Prince William as a more stable future, and sources say bosses are aggressively pursuing a strategic pivot. It is thought the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s lucrative contract with Netflix ended recently after series two of With Love, Meghan flopped.
Rob Shuter, a royal journalist, said: “Backchannel conversations are already happening — this is a live play, not a fantasy. They want to erase the chaos and replace it with credibility — and William and Kate are the crown jewels.”
Netflix had, for years, pushed the Sussexes “tell-all” brand of content but it often put the streamer at odds with Buckingham Palace. Meghan, 44, used media interviews to make scathing allegations about racism in recent years. In response to this, Prince William had told a reporter: “We’re very much not a racist family”.

But Netflix reportedly has a desire to repair damaged ties with the Palace. It recognises the “credibility” both William and Kate have, and it is believed it wants to explore this avenue.
A source told Mr Shuter: “This isn’t about building something new — it’s about plugging into a royal brand that already works and is beloved.” They are quoted in his new Naughty but Nice Substack, which notes quiet lines of communication have already been established between the streamer and teams connected to the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The broadcaster is particularly interested in William’s Earthshot Prize and Catherine’s advocacy for early childhood development through the Shaping Us campaign, it is reported. It is said that these would feature in documentary-style programmes, rather than reality shows.

Yet the shadow of the Sussexes’ past deal looms large. Harry and Markle’s $100 million (£75 million) Netflix partnership was met with mixed reviews and significant controversy.
Speaking to Mr Shuter, the insider said: “They got burned once. They will not get burned again. It’s early, it’s delicate, but it’s real — and if it lands, it resets everything.” They added Netflix is proceeding with huge caution, in the hope to avoid any pitfalls experienced with previous deals.
Netflix is yet to comment on the speculation. However, last week Ted Sarandos — the Co-CEO of the streaming platform — unfollowed both Markle and her lifestyle brand, As Ever, on the social media platform Instagram.
