(March 27, 2026) Canadian-born singer Glenn Lewis burst onto the scene a quarter century ago with the looks, the voice, and the sound that portended greatness. His album World Outside My Window and the smash hit “Don’t You Forget It,” deservedly dominated the charts for several weeks in 2002.
Unfortunately, Lewis was never able to effectively follow up that auspicious introduction to international audiences and, save for a Christmas EP, we haven’t heard from him on record in a decade. That drought has now ended with the new single “Past Tense,” a haunting midtempo that is the first single from a planned 2026 project.
Written by Lewis with Marcus White and Juwayon Clark and produced by Seige Monstracity, “Past Tense” is song chiding a woman for staying in a one-way romance and pleading for her to move to a healthier one with him.
Ain’t like you ain’t give that man a chance
I think it’s time you should give someone who can
Can show you more and that understands
And ready for the kind of love only a man
Can give to you
Lewis sounds great and the song, with its unusual, foreboding arrangement, grabs the listeners and draws them well into the familiar romantic tale. This is a welcome return for an artist that we’ve missed. Check it out below.
