Harry is set to attend the one-year countdown event to the Invictus Games set to take place in Birmingham in 2027 and he will also be carrying out an engagement linked to the WellChild charity, of which he has been patron since 2007. Reports recently claimed the Duke wants to bring his wife, Meghan Markle, and two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to spend “family time” in England, but only if security is provided.
The Sussexes saw their security downgrade after they quit the Firm six years ago. But a source close to Harry told The Times: “If he [Harry] was invited by the King, he would get a security package that automatically kicks in.
“He’d like an invite to Sandringham. Would he go? It would depend on who was there. If the King was to say ‘Come up and spend some time with the family’ he’d love that. He always loves seeing his father and would love to see him as much as possible.”
But now new reports suggested the latest claims did not paint the full picture.
According to the Mirror, Harry has not requested an invite to Sandringham this summer.
It is understood that the focus “remains on the official risk assessment results coming through” and that while Harry wouldn’t be opposed to a royal invite and a possible meeting with the King, no such moves have been made from the Sussex camp.
It is also understood that Harry has not received any invitation from the royals either.
It comes as Ravec, the Home Office’s Royal and VIP Executive Committee, is conducting a new risk assessment of the Duke of Sussex.
The assessment is yet to be completed.
