Aside from all his work as Queen’s guitarist, Sir Brian May occasionally likes to do collaborative singles. In recent years, the 78-year-old has released tracks with singers Kerry Ellis and Talia. And now he’s exclusively revealed to the Daily Express that he’s been back in the studio with a certain family member, his grandson. Speaking with the Daily Express while promoting Queen II remastered, Sir Brian teased: “I’ve been in the studio with my grandson, my son Jimmy’s son, Daniel.”
Sir Brian continued: “Daniel May is an accomplished guitarist at the age of 18, and a writer and a singer. And he’s in a band, apart from probably pursuing a course in astrophysics next year.” Like grandfather, like grandson: the Queen legend has a doctorate in the subject.
Sir Brian added: “How strange is that? And I swear I didn’t push him into any of it. Yeah, so we’ve been in the studio together, and we’ve done a track, which I’m quite excited about.” Hopefully, it won’t be too long before a snippet of the double May track is released.
