Taylor Swift‘s “Life of a Showgirl” merch might be taken down the shelves soon. Recently, a Las Vegas performer named Maren Flagg filed a trademark infringement case against the pop icon. Meanwhile, Flagg has demanded that the sales under Swift’s twelfth album name be put on hold.

Taylor Swift’s ‘Life of a Showgirl’ merch under fire amid trademark lawsuit

As per Rolling Stone, Maren Flagg has issued an order to stop the sales of Taylor Swift’s “Life of a Showgirl” merch amid the lawsuit. Talking about the case, Flagg, who performs under the name Maren Wade, filed the lawsuit on March 30, 2026. She claims the title of the “Bad Blood,” hitmaker’s twelfth album, is similar to her column, Confessions of a Showgirl.

Flagg has been allegedly working on the title since 2014 and expanded it to numerous fields, including a podcast and live show. In 2015, she reportedly registered it for entertainment services with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

According to the Filing, USPTO rejected Swift’s attempt to register the name. They claimed, “that Defendants’ designation is confusingly similar to Plaintiff’s established mark.” Additionally, the office believed that the similarity would likely convince consumers of a connection between the two sides. However, the Grammy-award-winning singer’s team allegedly carried on with the sales.

“Within weeks, the name appeared on drink tumblers, candles, hairbrushes, and garment tags,” claimed the filing. They further added, “Defendants built a dedicated retail storefront around it, launched collaborations with numerous national brands, and filed a trademark application across fourteen international classes, covering everything from disposable napkins to ponchos.”

The filing continued, “They never contacted plaintiff. They never sought her consent.” Flagg’s lawyer, Jaymie Parkkinen, commented, “A solo performer who spent twelve years building a brand shouldn’t have to watch it disappear because someone bigger came along.” Moreover, in the lawsuit, Flagg claimed that a similar name had ended up undermining her brand. This has made consumers believe that Wade has copied Swift.
