Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was forced to vacate his former residence, the Royal Lodge, earlier last year following King Charles’ decision to strip him of his royal titles and honours
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been blasted for “giving it large” despite his Royal Lodge eviction.
Photographs emerged this week of the former prince, 66, grinning at the wheel of his car on the Sandringham Estate, where he has been staying in temporary residence Wood Farm. As Andrew refused to vacate this property, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Edward and Sophie, had to change their plans for Easter.
And a royal expert has now condemned the situation, describing Andrew as arrogant. In a recent interview, Mark Dolan said: “I mean, so this is a wild story, isn’t it? He won’t budge from Wood Farm. I don’t know what is going on with Andrew. We know he’s got shocking taste in friends, but this is arrogance. This is hubris in the extreme. And we’re still seeing images of him driving around in a Range Rover, giving it large.”
Andrew has now moved to his permanent new home, Marsh Farm, which is also on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. This only happened, though, after an alleged confrontation with Edward during Easter.

Although Andrew has now moved, he continues to face criticism for the episode with Edward, his younger brother. Mr Dolan was speaking to journalist JJ Anisiobi during a Daily Express podcast. The host said: “I think he’s [Andrew] making King Charles look like an absolute powerless fool. The King has been gracious enough to let him stay in one of his many palatial homes, and Andy is like, ‘No, I’m going to stay here for a bit longer.'”
Mr Dolan agreed with this stance, telling the journalist: “Why is Charles so in hock to Andrew? Why can’t he have the whip hand over him? He’s the older brother. He’s the King. But there’s something going on there in that family dynamic that makes it difficult for him to deal with Andrew comprehensively.”
Marsh Farm underwent renovations ahead of Andrew’s move. During this phase, the King was never seen visiting his brother, but it is unclear if they have spoken over the phone. Andrew, a former pilot in the Royal Navy, was also arrested during this period, on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The dad of two was released under investigation, but he denies any wrongdoing.
Since then, Edward, and his wife Sophie, are said to have visited him at Wood Farm over the Easter break for dinner in what has been described as a “brotherly welfare check”.
Speaking of Andrew’s arrest in February, the monarch previously said: “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office.”
