The Princess Royal will have a special role as the Royal Family
marks 100 years since the birth of Queen Elizabeth II.
Princess Anne will officially open the The Queen Elizabeth II
Garden in Regent’s Park, London, on the centenary itself.
The park has been designed as a tranquil space for reflection in
the very heart of London.
The Princess, the only daughter of the late Queen, will
officially mark the opening of the space which will welcome its
first visitors just a few days later.
it’s been brought to life by HTA Design, to commemorate the life
and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II.
It’s one of a number of big royal events taking place on and
around April 21st 2026, the 100th anniversary of the birth of Queen
Elizabeth II.
King Charles and Queen Camilla will visit the brand new
exhibition at The King’s Gallery in London which showcases the
style of Queen Elizabeth II. Telling her story through her clothes
and image, it features thousands of items from headscarves and
ballet shoes to the stunning aquamarine tiara she had designed and
which only she has ever worn.
The King and Queen will also be joined members of the Royal
Family to see the designs for the national memorial to Queen
Elizabeth II.
The memorial, which will be designed by Lord Norman Foster, will
be created by a number of artists who will all meet the royals as
they discuss the plans.
The Royal Family will also join King Charles and Queen Camilla
for a special reception at Buckingham Palace on the anniversary of
the birth of Elizabeth II. They will meet some other centenarians
on what would have been the Queen Elizabeth II sent herself a
telegram.
Elizabeth II as born on April 21 1926 at 17 Bruton Street,
Mayfair, the home of her maternal grandparents, the Earl and
Countess of Strathmore. She was third in line to the throne at
birth but her life changed forever when her uncle, Edward VIII,
abdicated and her father became King George VI. She took the throne
on his death in 1952 and reigned for 70 years, being succeeded by
King Charles III on her own death on September 8 2022 at the age of
96.
