YOSHIKI is officially back and ready to conquer Los Angeles. The composer, pianist, and X Japan leader has announced a two-night engagement at Walt Disney Concert Hall on July 16 and 17. Tickets for the hotly-anticipated concerts go on sale today (April 10th) at 10 a.m. PT.

Billed as “Classical 2026,” the performances, dubbed “Scarlet Night” and “Violet Night”, will feature completely different setlists, with YOSHIKI leaning into both his classical roots and the legendary musicianship that has made him Japan’s biggest rock star. These shows mark YOSHIKI’s long-awaited return to the U.S. stage, following a period of uncertainty stemming from his third cervical spine surgery in late 2024. That major procedure temporarily cast doubt on whether he would perform live again.

More from Spin:

“To perform at Walt Disney Concert Hall is an honor, and in this moment it’s personal,” says YOSHIKI. “After my surgery, I wasn’t sure when I would return to the stage. These two nights are a celebration of resilience and the bond I share with my fans.”

While classical piano remains central to the performances, YOSHIKI has hinted at something less traditional. He promises the upcoming shows will be “emotional, powerful, and explosive,” with new sounds and ideas shaping what he views as an artistic rebirth.

The announcement arrives during a particularly active stretch for the artist. In recent weeks, YOSHIKI staged a run of sold-out shows in Tokyo and delivered a historic performance at the F1 Japanese Grand Prix Finals with a special rock and classical arrangement of Japan’s national anthem, prompting a massive social media reaction worldwide.

Elsewhere, the musical innovator has continued to pop up in unexpected places. Earlier this year, he shared the stage with Josh Groban in Japan and made a surprise appearance at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, joining the Jonas Brothers in front of 18,000 fans. The cross-genre collaborations highlight the breadth of his appeal, spanning classical, rock, and pop audiences alike.

Named to TIME’s 100 Most Influential People of 2025, YOSHIKI has long operated beyond traditional genre lines. With over 50 million records sold, his résumé spans chart-topping rock albums, film scoring, fashion design, and philanthropy through his Yoshiki Foundation America. In 2024, he also became the first and only Japanese artist to be immortalized with a hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

The influential force behind X Japan and the Last Rockstars has several classical albums to his credit. He has collaborated with everyone from George Martin and Bono to will.i.am., St. Vincent, Roger Taylor and Brian May of Queen, Gene Simmons, and the Chainsmokers.

Now, with “Classical 2026,” YOSHIKI returns to one of Los Angeles’ most acoustically cherished venues for what promises to be a deeply personal and likely unpredictable pair of performances.
