Mimi Barks releases new music video for ‘Power durch Verrat’

We’re entering the first weekend of Coachella 2026, one of the most monumental music moments of the year, which makes this a very special New Music Friday.

Our favorite artists could take a break and let the festival speak for itself, but instead, we’ve found this week to be jam-packed with our favorite artists from around the globe. Curious about what we’ll be listening to as the weekend kicks off? Just keep scrolling to discover the 10 biggest things that happened in music the week of April 10, 2026.

1. Brooke Combe Learns to Protect Her Heart in ‘Tears Don’t Lie’

Scottish soul artist Brooke Combe should be on everyone’s radars in 2026 with her phenomenal voice and smooth vintage sound. She just made her debut with Verge Records in the form of “Tears Don’t Lie,” and we can’t stop listening. Brooke bares her soul on the track as she looks back on a breakup, while coming out stronger for it. Now that she’s felt that pain, she can be more careful, yet assured, about how to protect her heart in the future.

“‘Tears Won’t Lie’ is a song that explores the truth that surfaces after a relationship falls apart,” Brooke said in a press release. “It’s about someone who has spent years hiding their pain behind a smile, only to be confronted with the emotional reality they can’t suppress anymore. Sort of like the moment grief, self-awareness and reality meet, and you’re suddenly awake and won’t lose yourself to love again.”

2. Lykke Li Comes Down in ‘Sick of Love’

It’s an exciting time for Swedish artist Lykke Li, who’ll be performing at Coachella today and again on Friday, April 17, and is releasing her next album, The Afterparty, on May 8. Her latest tease of everything to come is new single “Sick of Love,” a hazy and atmospheric pop track about getting past the honeymoon phase with someone and finally seeing the reality of the situation. It describes her still being at the party as the cleanup crew removes the last evidence of the event, unsure how to move on.

“It’s this moment of complete humiliation, and you’re trying to be strong,” Lykke shared in a press release. “I had a lot of fun writing these lyrics … I laughed a lot.”

3. Holly Humberstone Navigates Love and Femininity With Cruel World

BRIT Rising Star winning artist Holly Humberstone never falters, and she’s at her most artistic and powerful with the release of her sophomore album, Cruel World. Over a dozen remarkable indie-pop tracks, Holly draws on the storytelling aesthetics of both dark fairytales and gothic horror cinema to tell love stories of all kinds, revealing how love can be the source of our greatest thrills and triumphs and our deepest pains. At the same time, she channels feminine strength, highlighting the importance of women learning to uplift each other rather than compete.

“This album encapsulates two years of loving, learning, yearning, growing up, embracing changes and navigating being a young woman in the modern world,” Holly wrote in an Instagram post. “I feel so privileged to have been able to grow and learn so much about myself and those closest to me through its creation. There’s no way I can possibly express how much I love this album and how much it’s meant to me in an Insta caption, so I hope the music can do most of the talking…. It’s been the biggest privilege getting to tell these stories and build a world with extremely talented friends ♡ thank you to everyone involved …. collaboration is the best part of my job and I am endlessly inspired by y’all!”

4. Denise Julia Realizes Her Worth With ‘2GOOD4U’

Filipina pop-R&B artist and producer Denise Julia first rocketed onto our radars with her 2022 hit song “NVMD,” which has been streamed more than a quarter of a billion times. After a period of silence from the star, she’s back and ready to begin a new musical chapter, starting with “2GOOD4U.” The song channels a classic Y2K R&B sound as she cooly and assertively stands her ground and lets her ex know she’s too good for them and has fully moved on.

“You’re probably wondering why it took so long for me to release new music,” Denise wrote in an Instagram post. “A little over a year to be exact. While I was battling three diagnoses, I disappeared for a while and moved to the states alone. Went through a period of adjustment that challenged me more than I expected. Never felt so out of place in a country that felt rough and unfamiliar. So I kept to myself for a while. Stayed inside. Just trying to feel worth living again. There’s this belief I heard somewhere that when you’re getting closer to your dreams, it can feel like you’re losing everything at the same time. Fast forward… I found my people. They pushed me, who reminded me who I am but at the same time taught a different approach towards life. Eventually I found love again in what I do. And more importantly for myself. I made two EPs in that space. And this song is kind of where we start again. This is for anyone who forgot their worth in places that never knew how to hold them. You’re too good to stay in places where there’s no growth.”

5. Jared Benjamin Crafts Another Moody Hit With ‘Drag Me Down’

If you’re a BookTok regular, there’s a good chance you’re familiar with dark pop phenom Jared Benjamin and his hit song “Three Steps Ahead,” a cinematic and haunting track that’s made the perfect backdrop to many a moody story. Ahead of his debut headlining The ICARUS Tour, which begins next week, he just released a new single called “Drag Me Down,” and it feels poised to be his next breakout song. Driven by a dark guitar riff, the track shows him reckoning with a love who won’t embrace the man he became for them.

“I wrote ‘Drag Me Down’ to make a statement to the people who talk and judge others,” Jared said in a press release. “They will always be a part of life, but part of succeeding is rising above that noise, and telling them to F off along the way.”

6. Myles Smith Makes Sense of Lingering Scars With ‘My Mess’

English folk-pop artist Myles Smith is one to watch, particularly with his upcoming debut album, My Mess, My Heart, My Life, out June 12. His newest single, “My Mess,” may be his rawest and most heartfelt release yet as he holds nothing back, giving a diaristic glimpse into his psyche and the childhood wounds that keep him from being who he wants to be. It’s an honest portrayal of the way our pasts can weigh on us, and we must often fight our inclinations and heal our inner children in order to truly move forward.

“I’ve been trying to find the right words, but honestly I’ve just been sitting here reading your messages, taking it all in. It’s a bit overwhelming in the most beautiful way,” Myles wrote in a post on Instagram.  “his song was never about being the biggest or the loudest moment. It was always meant to be an honest one. Something that brings you into the world of my album… properly. No filter, no pretending. And today, seeing how many of you have found yourselves in it… people telling me they cried for the first time in years, people saying they felt seen, understood… that’s everything to me. That connection. That feeling. That’s why I do this. I feel so lucky to have you. Truly. The most incredible fan base in the world. You’ll always be my pookies. And somehow, you make me feel just as seen and heard as you say the music makes you feel. I’m still figuring things out. I still have my struggles. But you make me feel less alone in them. And that means more than I can ever explain. Thank you for letting this song be yours as much as it is mine.”

7. Dess Dior’s Note to Self Album Is a Love Letter

Dess Dior’s made a name for herself as one of the hottest hip-hop and R&B stars of the moment, and she’s never been more irresistible than on her sophomore album, Note to Self. The 15-track project features everyone from Belly Gang Kushington to YFN Lucci, BJRNCK, Chalynn and Valiant as she steps into her full confidence while being as vulnerable and reflective as ever. Her flow feels effortless yet evocative as she explores her full emotional breadth, finding herself as she learns to let go of what no longer serves her and demand everything she knows she deserves.

“Note To Self is a love letter to myself in all senses,” she shared in a press release. “It’s me reminding myself who I am, how far I’ve come and where I’m headed. In this day and age, it’s easy to lose yourself in the noise, so this album is about staying grounded in my own feminine power. My sound right now is unapologetic. It’s polished, it’s rhythmic and it’s bossy. Even in my most introspective moments, I’m fully in control and setting the standard.”

8. Oliver Tree Teases a New Album With ‘All You Ever Wanted’

Artist and producer Oliver Tree has never neatly fit into a single category as a musician, creative and filmmaker, and with his next album, Love You Madly, Hate You Badly out on April 24, he’s expanding his oeuvre even further. We just got another delicious glimpse with the new single, “All You Ever Wanted,” a melodic and dreamlike uptempto dance song about someone who fought hard for their dreams but was never able to reach them. It’s also accompanied by a cinematic music video transforming Oliver into a sword-wielding knight, demonstrating his medieval antics.

9. Cruz Beckham Is Ready to Move on in ‘Waste Your Pain’

Cruz Beckham and his band, The Breakers, have been giving us classic Britpop vibes, and we couldn’t be more thrilled that they’ll be kicking off a debut U.S. headline tour this summer. They just gave us another taste of their instantly classic sound with “Waste Your Pain,” a vibrant and upbeat rock track about finally being ready to let go and start anew, refusing to get hurt by someone who won’t give you the time of day. We also adore its irreverent music video inspired by Risky Business.

“So the industry doesn’t believe in music videos, but we do, so we had to give you one anyway, made in a hotel room with nothing but a camera and a broken lamp,” Cruz wrote in a post on Instagram.

10. kenzie Examines Being Stuck in the Middle With notes from the in between EP

21-year-old pop sensation kenzie has been through some major transitions lately, and she explores them in depth with the release of her new notes from the in between EP. Its five tracks each got their own music video releases today, examining the middle ground between youth and adulthood, uncertainty and understanding, and feeling the weight of growing up for the first time. Its songs reflect on self-discovery, loss and infatuation and the magic that can be found in not knowing what comes next, all through kenzie’s signature authentic lens.

“notes from the in between is a collection of songs written from a place of transition,” kenzie shared in a press release. “It lives in the space between who I was and who I’m becoming, before clarity, before answers, before certainty.”
