GB News was halted to issue a devastating blow to Prince Harry after he resigned from his charity Sentebale – which is now suing him for defamation. The prince is being sued alongside former trustee Mark Dyer due to an alleged “adverse media campaign”, though Harry strongly denies all the accusations.
Live on the programme this weekend, royal journalist Sarah Louise Robertson didn’t hold back in her assessment of Harry’s woes, as she said: “It’s all got very, very messy. I don’t know if you remember but about a year ago, March last year, Prince Harry dramatically resigned, along with [former trustee] Mark Dyer, as one of the chairs of his charity Sentebale.
“He set this charity up 19 years ago, it was in honour of his late mother Princess Diana. The name of it means ‘forget me not’, and probably he wants to forget all of this but he can’t, because he’s being dragged into the High Court and sued for defamation, for libel, by the charity that he founded.”
Robertson went on: “It’s due to a massive fallout with its chair Sophie Chandauka. It was shocking when this all came out last year, these allegations.
“There was basically a power struggle between Harry and Sophie. She accused him and Mark of basically spreading unfounded claims, misogyny, there was an element of racism brought in as well, sexism… These were all allegations that Harry has strongly denied.
She concluded: “So I don’t know how this is going to play out, because there are just so many grey areas. He said, she said. But certainly something has gone wrong somewhere.”
A spokesperson for Prince Harry and Mark Dyer said: “They categorically reject these offensive and damaging claims,” adding that the charity should instead focus its efforts on the communities it supports, rather than pursuing legal action.
