CLEVELAND (WJW) — Since the 2026 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees list was announced Monday night, it’s probably time to look ahead to next year.
First, let’s take a look at some of the artists — some who are rock, and some who are decidedly otherwise — who would be eligible for the first time starting in 2027. In order to be eligible, one must have released a commercial recording at least 25 years ago, meaning bands and solo artists who launched in 2002 could be inducted.

There are a lot of big pop and hip-hop stars eligible soon: Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne.

When it comes to bands, Akron’s own The Black Keys are eligible for the first time, as are Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, LCD Soundsystem, The Used and Audioslave.
Of course, there are plenty of acts that have been eligible for years and still have never made the cut: Northeast Ohio’s own DEVO, Daft Punk, Weezer and Wilco, among many others.
This year, the R&B group New Edition was nominated for the first time and even won the Rock Hall Fan Vote but did not get chosen. Nominees The Black Crowes, Jeff Buckley, Mariah Carey, Melissa Etheridge, Lauryn Hill, INXS, Pink and Shakira are also all hoping for another nomination next year.

Who will get the nod next year when the ceremony is back in Cleveland? It’s unclear. In the meantime, just keep listening to the music that moves you.
