The stars were indeed big and bright over Texas this weekend. Anyone who was lucky enough to make their way to Fort Worth on Saturday, April 11, got the chance to see their favorite TV cowboys and cowgirls, as well as some of the biggest stars in film and TV, saddle up for a celebrity-filled Western showdown.
Icon Global hosted the second NCHA Celebrity Cutting at Fort Worth’s Will Rogers Coliseum on Saturday, supporting cancer research at UT Southwestern and giving fans a chance to see Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan in the flesh as he and the stars of his numerous TV shows took to the field.
While not initially announced as a competitor, supermodel and The Beauty actress Bella Hadid returned to the cutting competition, showing off her skills in the saddle.
Elsewhere, Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter went cowboy for the very first time, writing after the event, “There’s a first time for everything. Thank you @nchacutting @utswmedcenter for making an incredible experience for an incredible cause.”
Academy Award winner and Lioness star Nicole Kidman was in attendance for the second time but has yet to get in the saddle. Stars who did compete in the cutting included The Americans star Matthew Rhys, C. Thomas Howell of The Outsiders, Air Bud’s Kevin Zeger, The Madison’s Beau Garrett and actor Neal McDonough (who you’ve seen in countless projects). Landman star Jacob Lofland and 1923’s Aminah Nieves were also in attendance but did not compete in the cutting.
Lioness actor Thad Luckinbill and professional horse cutter Holly Francois came away as team champions with a score of 448.5
“In a night built on ENERGY, COMPETITION, AND PURPOSE… one team rose to the top,” the National Cutting Horse Association wrote on Facebook. “Riding under the silks of Metallic Cat through the Ride for the Brand sponsorship, the team answered the moment in front of a PACKED Fort Worth crowd, closing out an electric night that brought together great horses, great people, and a CAUSE that truly matters!”
