Andie MacDowell is sharing how she bonds with her two grandkids.
The actress recently appeared on Today to discuss the final season of her show, The Way Home, on Wednesday, April 15, and spoke about how she carves out time to spend with her grandkids. MacDowell is grandma to daughter Rainey Qualley‘s daughter, Bluebell, and son Justin Qualley’s daughter, Cozette.
“Well, I do FaceTime a lot. And I’m extremely animated,” said MacDowell when asked how she makes time for her grandkids. “My daughter-in-law is really kind of quiet, and my daughter is really quiet. So my grandkids think I’m fabulous.”

The star was then asked what her grandkids call her.
“Nana,” said MacDowell. “And I went through all these different, like, what are they going to say? But now Cozette says Nana. And so I’m Nana.”
“But sometimes I say I’m Sweet Pie Nana,” she continued. “And I’ll say, ‘You’re my Sweetie Pie Cozette!’ That’s what I say. I love that. It’s so much fun.”
Back in April 2025, MacDowell told PEOPLE she was going by a different name to her grandkids. At the time, she shared that her first granddaughter, Cozette, came up with a more unique moniker for her.
“They came to stay with me, [Cozette] called me Gaga,” she shared. “So, that’s fine with me. We’ll see how it all pans out if she continues to call me Gaga. But she couldn’t really say anything else, but she was adamantly calling me Gaga, so I was okay with that.”

“Whatever they want to call me, they can call me,” added MacDowell. “As long as they don’t call me granny. That’s the only thing I said, ‘Don’t call me granny. I’m sorry that one’s out.’”
In December 2024, MacDowell, who is also mom to daughter Margaret Qualley, became a grandma again after her daughter Rainey welcomed her first baby with husband Anthony Wilson. Rainey shared the news on her Instagram, where she posted the first photos of her newborn baby.
The newly minted mom could be seen breastfeeding her baby and cuddling the newborn as she sat in a chair. Rainey also included a few photos of the baby, who was nestled in a onesie in one snap.
“12/10/24 at 2:21am ✨ one week in the world,” Rainey wrote in her caption.
