NEW YORK (PIX11) — New Yorkers are in for a royal treat later this month.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla will spend a day in New York during a four-day state visit to the U.S. at the end of April, Buckingham Palace announced Tuesday.
King Charles first visit to U.S. as monarch
The King will make his first visit to the U.S. since becoming monarch and will the first state visit by the crown since 2007 when Queen Elizabeth II crossed the pond.
According to the Royal Family, the visit begins on April 27 with a trip to Washington, D.C., to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence.
The royals will then stop in New York City two days later, where they will visit the 9/11 Memorial to meet with first responders and the families of victims.
Charles and Camilla will then go to Virginia to connect with local communities before heading to Bermuda at the beginning of May.
