This is because Charlotte turns 11 on May 2 – the same day Charles is carrying out engagements in Bermuda. The King will be visiting Bermuda without Queen Camilla for a two-day visit, which will mark his first time visiting as monarch.
The visit will see him greeted by a colourful welcome ceremony in King’s Square and carrying out various engagements, including meeting Commonwealth Games athletes ahead of the 2026 event in Glasgow and visiting the UK Space Agency project launch.
While Charles will no doubt be excited for the trip, it does mean he won’t be in the UK for Princess Charlotte’s 11th birthday.
It is believed they enjoy spending time with one another, with King Charles having been spotted in recent years wearing friendship bracelets presumed to have been made by Charlotte.
The pair was caught on video and shared online, with one fan saying: “That sweet grandpa-granddaughter moment with King Charles is pure gold.”
Another said: “They had big smiles for one another.”
Someone else wrote on X: “King Charles just loves his grandbabies. Or should I say grandChildren as they are older now.”
