Fresh off her appearance at Coachella, Jennifer Lopez is opening up about her latest music, her collaboration with David Guetta, and the emotional connection behind dance music.

From Tour Favorite to Global Release
“Save Me Tonight” wasn’t originally meant to be a major release. J.Lo revealed she created the song alongside a handful of others to debut during her European tour last summer.
“I just wanted to have a couple of new songs when I went on tour,” she said. “I was like, I want the fans to see something new.”
After debuting the track during Pride events, fan demand quickly grew.
“Everywhere I go, people are like, ‘Why can’t we find that song?’” J.Lo recalled. “It was the one song that everybody wanted.”
That response ultimately led her to reconnect with David Guetta and officially release the record — which has since gained major momentum.
A Full-Circle Coachella Moment
J.Lo recently brought the song to one of the world’s biggest stages, joining Guetta at Coachella — a moment that gave her a deeper understanding of the track’s impact.
Watching the crowd respond, she realized the song’s meaning went beyond its lyrics.
“When songs resonate, you go, why is that?” she said.
For J.Lo, the answer lies in the communal experience of dance music.
“It’s Emotional Dance Music”
J.Lo described EDM not just as a genre, but as a shared emotional experience.
“It’s not electronic dance music — it’s emotional dance music to me,” she said.
In a time when people feel increasingly disconnected, she believes music plays a powerful role in bringing people together.
“We’re all in our phones all the time, and we’re so lonely,” J.Lo said. “And when music can bring people together like that… it really is ‘save me tonight.’”
The experience at Coachella — thousands of fans singing, dancing, and connecting — reinforced that idea.
“It gives me goosebumps talking about it,” she added.
A Nod to ‘Waiting for Tonight’
The moment also sparked a wave of nostalgia, as Guetta played J.Lo’s 1999 hit “Waiting for Tonight” just before she took the stage.
Hearing the crowd sing along decades later was deeply moving.
“This was 26, 27 years ago, and people are singing it,” J.Lo said. “It reminded me how powerful and emotional dance music is.”
