Christina Applegate is speaking out for the first time since reports of her recent hospitalization.
“Thank you for the outpouring of love and well wishes. Health issues are a constant for me, but I’m a strong chick and I’m getting stronger and better every day,” the Married… with Children alum, 54, wrote in the caption for a photo she posted to Instagram April 20. The picture was of a white coffee cup, emblazoned with kisses and the words “Kissy Kissy,” sitting atop her memoir, You With the Sad Eyes.
The actress ended her post to say, “I’m taking a moment to focus on my health, but I’ll be back with more to say soon enough.”
Applegate was reportedly hospitalized last week but has given no further details. The Emmy Award-winning actress, who announced in 2021 that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, had just released her memoir, You With the Sad Eyes.

Applegate said she first began experiencing symptoms — like leg buckling and numbness — up to seven years before her official MS diagnosis. In addition to her memoir, she also candidly discusses her symptoms on MeSsy, the podcast she hosts with her friend, Sopranos alum Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who shared that she’d been diagnosed with MS in 2016.
In February, Applegate announced the launch of Next in MS, an online community for those impacted by MS to share their own experiences. In a Super Bowl ad for the new site, Applegate bluntly stated, “Zero stars. Would not recommend. It sucks! It suuuucks.”
