Sarah Ferguson will eventually have to return to the UK and “face the music”, a royal expert has said. Cameron Walker, a royal reporter at GB News, said he had no idea how the former Duchess of York managed to fund her “luxury lifestyle” and she would have to come back to Britain. Fergie was photographed in Austria last week reportedly staying at a £2,000-a-night chalet in the Alps.
He told The Sun’s Royal Exclusive podcast: “I don’t know how she’s getting this money to fund this luxury lifestyle continually. There were rumours she spent some time in Ireland as well and then [there was] this retreat in Switzerland too. I think eventually she’s going to have to come back and face the music.”
Royal commentator, Bronte Coy, from news.com.au, asked how Ms Ferguson’s overseas stays are being paid for and how long she would “lay low for”, adding: “Presumably she can’t stay [in Austria] forever.”
Ms Ferguson has kept a low profile since her name appeared in messages released by the US Justice Department as part of the Epstein files.
She tells convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in another sent in 2010 that she was waiting for her oldest daughter, Princess Eugenie, to return from a “sh*****g” weekend.
Ms Ferguson appears to thank him in 2009 for helping her to access business opportunities, describing him as like a “brother” to her.
Being named in the Epstein files is no indication of wrongdoing or misconduct.
Mr Walker suggested the former duchess would not visit the US and answer questions about Epstein.
He told Royal Exclusive: “Let’s just wait and see. I think she’d want to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible.
“Does she want to come back into public life? I doubt it very much in terms of being in public, but will she need to in order to get more money to fund this lifestyle?”
His comments came amid claims Ms Ferguson has been approached by a journalist offering £1.81million ($2.45m) for a tell-all interview.
A source told Woman’s Day that Fergie wants to tell her side of the story in relation to her association with Epstein, adding she has a lot to tell about that and her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s links to the sex offender.
