A Below Deck boat was seen ablaze in the middle of the Pacific Ocean this week as filming for season 13 of the Bravo reality series is underway.
In new terrifying footage obtained by TMZ, one of the show’s transport vessels was seen up in flames near the island of Mo’orea located in the French Polynseia. While it wasn’t one of the expensive private yachts that Below Deck is famously known for, it is used in the Bravo series to help transport passengers from the luxury vessels onto shore.
In the footage, a huge cloud of black smoke was seen billowing out of the small boat, with the cause of the fire still unknown. There were no reported injuries from the incident. This comes as Cameron Colvin, a former Below Deck guest, was arrested by the FBI for fraud and money laundering.
The incident occurred as Below Deck is currently in the process of filming their 13th season, according to podcasts and fan speculation. While the location of the upcoming season has not yet been revealed, many are theorizing it will be taking place in Thailand for the first time.
While an exact premiere date hasn’t been announced for Season 13, Bravo has confirmed that it is in the works.

But this isn’t the first fire that Below Deck has been forced to put out. There have been fire-related incidents throughout the show, including a galley fire that broke out during Below Deck Season 3 Episode 9. In the episode, titled ‘Fire’ a minor fire was ignited in the oven while Chief Stew Kate Chastain was cooking up pizza for the yacht’s guests.
While the flames were quickly put out, the incident led to heightened tensions between the yacht crew members as the emergency was blamed on Chef Leon Walker for not properly cleaning the oven.
This comes as the series Below Deck has been on the air for over a decade, first premiering on Bravo on July 1, 2013. The series has aired 12 seasons as of 2025. Due to its popularity and loyal fanbase, the Bravos show has gone on to produce a number of spin-off shows including Mediterranean, Sailing Yacht, Down Under, and Adventure.
Below Deck Season 12 followed Captain Kerry Titheradge in his second season as the Below Deck captain after starring on the spin-off series Below Deck Adventure.

During the last dramatic season, Captain Kerry was joined by his crew, which included Fraser Olender, Kyle Stillie, Anthony Iracane, Rainbeau de Roos, Solène Favreau, Barbara Kulaif, Kyle Stillie, Jess Theron, Damo Yorg, and Hugo Ortega, as they navigated the waters of the Carribean and their messy love triangles.
This season was highly criticized by viewers, as many felt it focused too much on romance rather than their adventures at sea. On a Reddit thread discussing Season 12, one critic posted, “I didn’t realize how much we’ve lost the plot because I watched them all in order and it slowly became love island. I just went back to watch the old seasons and I was baffled at HOW MUCH BETTER it was. You actually saw boat problems. On a boat! Mind boggling.”
Another agreed, “Sadly just like all reality shows. My other fave Naked and Afraid is too. Duck Dynasty another example.”
While a third chimed in, “Whole season was one big slap in the face to the viewer. Who honestly wants to look at people randomly mashing tongues 5 times an episode? It’s not interesting. Its not even that dramatic or much of a spectacle after the first couple times. This season was just so f—–g shallow. In old seasons you really get to study people, study their personalities and their quirks, you wind up asking yourself things like “why are they acting like that?” As much of a train wreck that Gary is in SY, he is an absolutely fascinating character study.”
