Charles took a brief break from public-facing duties during the early stages of his treatment, but has been back at work, even ramping up his duties. The King has been dubbed a “workaholic” by many throughout his royal career, even before his 2022 ascension to the throne.
Now, a royal author has weighed in on how Charles approaches his role.
Biographer Robert Hardman told Marie Claire magazine: “He is, I would say, as happy as I’ve ever seen him.”
He added that Charles, who was the longest-serving Prince of Wales, now approaches his role with a “genuine purpose and energy” and appears to thoroughly enjoy his job.
Mr Hardman added: “He’s never been shy of work. [He is] quite happy staying up all night and being handed extra bundles of work.”
The biographer concluded: “Charles is a deep thinker. He’s a reader. He’s a workaholic.”
The Mail’s royal editor, Rebecca English, previously spoke about Charles’s passion for his role.
She wrote: “Charles is a workaholic, who famously packs in ten to 12 engagements and meetings a day and spends many a night alone in his study, furiously writing letters and keeping up with his paperwork, well into the early hours.
“His wife knows he won’t change, and nor would she want him to.”
