ODESSA — Viva La Fiesta returns for its 30th year at the Ector County Coliseum this weekend, with festivities ranging from cultural events and sports competitions to concerts and other family-friendly fun.

Hosted by the Garriga Law Firm, Viva La Fiesta will run Friday through Sunday, May 1-3.

The event celebrates culture, music and community. It will feature activities such as a vendors market, carnival rides, a car and art show, a beauty pageant, a petting zoo, pig racing, a charreada and more.

Special events and activities

The third annual Viva La Fiesta futsal tournament, organized by Independiente Futsal, will begin Friday. Futsal is a fast-paced indoor version of soccer played on a smaller field with five players per team.

Teams from across Texas and the Southwest will demonstrate their skills, teamwork and passion for the game while competing for their age bracket championship.

Little Miss Fiesta West Texas

The Little Miss Fiesta West Texas pageant will showcase participants as they take the stage to celebrate heritage, style and personality. Family, friends and festival attendees are invited to cheer on the young contestants as they shine in front of the community.

Viva Marionetas is a vibrant celebration of Mexican culture brought to life through the artistry of marionette theater, produced by Le Theatre de Marionette in Dallas. Guests can expect to see señoritas dancing and swirling to mariachi music, a playful matador and bull, colorful payasos and elegant Catrinas.

Carros & Cultura is a car and art exhibit celebrating Hispanic heroes, automotive artistry and cultural expression. Presented by All-American Chevy, the showcase blends custom cars with powerful visual art.

Cowtown Fiesta is an interactive, family-friendly experience where kids and adults can learn all about life on the farm. Guests will be able to get close to barnyard animals and learn how to milk a cow. The hands-on exhibit is bilingual and educational.

Guests can watch pot-bellied pigs dash around the “Bacon Barn” track during the educational pig racing show. Winners will take home blue ribbons, hats or the “My Pig Won” T-Shirts. The session will also feature the “College of Pig Knowledge” trivia.

The Jurassic-themed attraction will feature animatronic dinosaurs and interactive displays. Visitors can meet Bluey, a 14-foot velociraptor, and Maverick, a T. rex. There will also be two inflatable dinos, Rocky, a 22-foot triceratops, and Thunder, a 20-foot ankylosaurus.

Puppy Pals Live is a family-friendly, action-packed show where adopted and rescued dogs perform spectacular stunts and breathtaking feats. The show features dogs moving through the audience while performing tricks.

Viva La Charreada & Escaramuza Exhibition

The charreada will showcase the skill of charros and escaramuzas as they rope, ride and display horsemanship. The traditional Mexican rodeo showcases cultural heritage through horsemanship, vibrant attire and spirited competition.

Eric Y Massore are a rising duo in the regional Mexican scene, blending contemporary styles with classic influences. The duo will kick off the concerts at 7:30 p.m.

De Parranda is a high-energy regional Mexican group known for their lively norteño and corrido-style performances. The band will perform at 9 p.m.

La Mafia is a legendary Latin band from Houston known for pioneering the Tejano music movement in the 1980s and ’90s. La Mafia’s set will begin at 10:30 p.m.

Tropicalismo Apache is a beloved cumbia and tropical music group from Texas with a legacy spanning decades. The cumbia group will begin the evening concerts at 7:30 p.m.

Conjunto Relincho is a dynamic norteño group known for their accordion-driven sound and danceable rhythms. The group will start their set at 9 p.m.

Los Rieleros del Norte are a long-standing norteño band formed in the 1980s, widely respected for their authentic sound and storytelling lyrics. Los Rieleros will take the stage at 10:30 p.m.

Sonora Skandalo is a high-energy Latin group known for their fusion of cumbia, merengue and tropical rhythms. The group will open Sunday’s concert lineup at 6:30 p.m.

Kieth Nieto is a New Mexico-based country artist who brings Southwestern flair to modern country music. His set will begin at 8 p.m.

La Fiera de Ojinaga is a popular norteño sax group from Chihuahua known for their distinctive blend of saxophone and accordion. The group will close the festival’s concert lineup at 9:30 p.m.

Tickets

Day tickets start at $35.68 and include admission and access to the evening concert. A family four-pack is also available for $25 per ticket.
