After a whirlwind year of “Brat summer,” Charli XCX is pursuing music on new terms. This includes acting roles in Gregg Araki’s upcoming erotic thriller I Want Your Sex, a feature in A24 mockumentary titled The Moment, and even an untitled Takashi Miike project as a producer. But for now, in Wuthering Heights, she brings her sound to a Victorian romance filled with betrayal and longing. The result positions her as more than a pop provocateur, but a well-rounded cinephile.
