In you missed it, I thought I’d post a link to Tom’s appearance, while in NYC, on The Daily Beast Podcast, where he discussed why President Donald Trump can’t help but fawn over King Charles. He tells host Joanna Coles that it’s not just the fact that Charles is a monarch (although name-dropping his great-great-great-great-great grandfather, King George III, at the White House state banquet the other night didn’t do any harm) but that Trump genuinely enjoys playing host.
“I was on a show last night and they had one of Donald Trump’s former press secretaries on, and this person was saying that Donald Trump is very much like a host. He loves hosting, he loves showing off his hosting skills, he loves having his big hotel and his big ballroom and impressing you,” Tom said.
“And so it’s bringing out the essence of the special relationship. It’s not just about me saying, ‘Oh, you’re marvelous.’ It’s about us both being able to hopefully be better people.”
