Speaking at a Movember event, Harry revealed that he struggled when becoming a father for the first time in 2019. He also addressed how he has been to therapy in the past to deal with some of the things he went through during his childhood.
At the event, held at the Whitten Oval in Melbourne, Harry revealed: “I knew that I had stuff from the past that I needed to deal with (before becoming a dad).”
He continued: “For me, there’s an element of choosing therapy because you have something or you think there’s something that needs fixing.
“There’s also the other piece of therapy, which is preventative and getting ahead of it. You don’t have to wait until you’re lying on the kitchen floor in the foetal position.”
It is believed Harry, who quit royal life in 2020, had therapy before his son Prince Archie was born.
While Harry seems content now, especially with his life in Montecito, former royal editor Duncan Larcombe said he thinks Harry seems “more unhappy” now than ever, however he didn’t say why he thinks the duke feels this way.
Speaking to New magazine, Duncan said: “He’s (Prince Harry) been quite open about his childhood being flawed and traumatic, and his personality is very much ‘ wear your heart on your sleeve’, which is maybe why he is the one, as opposed to William, who seems tortured by it and why he’s making these emotional outbursts.
“There must have been times when that’s been difficult for Meghan, too. But he seems more unhappy now than he’s ever been.”
