The daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson revealed the news on her Instagram account, saying “Baby Brooksbank due 2026!” with a row of red heart emojis.
The news was accompanied by a photo of her two sons – August (5) and Ernest (2) – holding an ultrasound image.
The office of King Charles also released a statement, revealing Eugenie is ‘due this summer,’ referring to the Northern hemisphere season. It said the King is “delighted” and that the couple’s two children are “very excited to have another sibling join the family.” The Royal Family Instagram also reposted the photo.
Princess Eugenie is 12th in the line of succession and her unborn child, who will not be an HRH, will be 15th. The arrival will bump her uncle Prince Edward down to 16th.
The happy news comes following the February arrest of Princess Eugenie’s father Andrew, on suspicion of misconduct in public office over allegations he sent confidential government documents to paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. He denied any wrongdoing.
That Princess Eugenie’s news was shared from the office of Buckingham Palace has been taken as a show of support from the King amid the scandal.
