Melania Trump’s feelings toward Queen Camilla appear to have been revealed through her heartfelt farewell message.
First Lady Melania Trump and President Donald Trump hosted Camilla and King Charles at the White House for a state visit last week. The royal couple concluded their trip on April 30, departing for Bermuda before making their way back to the U.K.
Prior to leaving, King Charles and Queen Camilla stopped by the White House to bid farewell to the Trumps. During the send-off, Camilla was seen sporting a gift from Melania, though she was quick to remove it once she departed. According to lip reader Nicola Hickling, Melania told the departing royals, “Thank you. I wish you well and hope you have a good flight.” It comes after Trump was caught on camera doing a shocking act to Melania at an inappropriate moment.
The First Lady then delivered a warm seven-word parting message: “Good luck with everything, and enjoy yourself.” Nicola, in comments to The Sun, indicated that Melania also asked Camilla to relay a message to Kate Middleton.
“Send my love to Catherine and William and their children,” the former model reportedly said.
Throughout the farewell, Queen Camilla wore a Tiffany and Co. brooch, believed to be valued at a staggering $40,000, which had been presented to her by Melania during the state visit.
However, she promptly took it off upon exiting the White House. Instead, she opted for a Cartier piece displaying both the Union Jack and the American flag when she touched down at Arlington National Cemetery. This was the identical piece Her Majesty had worn upon landing at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Monday.
During State Visits of this kind, it’s traditional for the King and Queen to exchange gifts with their hosts. The First Lady presented the brooch to the Queen during last September’s State Visit to the UK.
Elsewhere during the visit, when the quartet was waving to gathering crowds on the White House’s Truman Balcony, Nicola told the Daily Express US that after Camilla turned to her husband, she asked, “Are you alright?” Charles reportedly added, “Listen to the rain, my socks are soaking. Shocking.”
As Charles and Camilla prepared to leave last week, the president offered kind words about the queen. According to Nicola, he remarked, “It’s been very good to have you here. Have a safe flight. I’d like to see you again when we come over.”
The 79-year-old also described the visit as “fantastic” to the king and conveyed his enthusiasm about reconnecting with the royal couple down the line.
