Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was accosted earlier this week while
walking his dogs near his new home on the Sandringham estate, it
has been reported.
The former
prince was accompanied by a private security officer during the
altercation. Andrew had been walking his dogs near Marsh Farm at
the time of the incident, which saw a man in a balaclava allegedly
approach and accost him.
Andrew, as reported in The
Telegraph, ran to his own vehicle with his security
officer, and sped off. The incident reportedly happened on a public
road near the Sandringham estate.
Norfolk Police released a statement confirming
the altercation: “Officers were called shortly after 7.30pm
yesterday (Wednesday 6 May 2026) following a report a man was
behaving in an intimidating manner in the village.”
The man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offense and
possession of an offensive weapon and was taking to King’s Lynn
Police Investigation Centre for further questioning.
Norfolk Police further confirmed that an individual had been
charged with two counts of “using threatening, abusive or
insulting words or behaviour to harass someone or cause alarm or
distress” and “failing to provide a specimen of blood in
custody.”
Theman is scheduled to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on
Friday.
The Telegraph quotes a source who used the incident to
appeal for security for the former prince, “This shows why
Andrew’s security provisions need to be proportionate and properly
balanced for an individual with a very high profile. Surely this
demonstrates why his security should be reviewed.”
Andrew’s security was removed, as were his titles and styles, in
the wake of his association with Jeffrey Epstein.
On his 66th birthday in February,
Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct of public office
and released later that day.
