Though there’s never a shortage of festivals, markets, concerts, and other cultural happenings in the Classic City, we’ve chosen to spotlight these events for the weekend of May 8-10.

Winterville Marigold Festival
- WHERE: Pittard Park (115 Parkview Rd in Winterville)
- WHEN: Saturday, May 9, from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. (free admission)
- DETAILS: This full-day festival includes a 10K race, parade, vendor market, car show, kids area, and demonstrations, along with live music on the main stage from noon through the evening. A wide range of activities and performances make it one of the area’s most comprehensive spring events.
Triangle Plaza Community Resource Fair
- WHERE: Lay Park (297 Hoyt St.)
- WHEN: Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (free admission)
- DETAILS: This family-oriented event features music, performances, and children’s activities alongside services such as health resources, safety checks, including booster seat inspections, and information on summer programs and local assistance. Free hot dogs and drinks will be provided while supplies last.
Mother’s Day Brunch
- WHERE: The Georgia Center (1197 S. Lumpkin St.)
- WHEN: Sunday, May 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. ($35 adults; $15 children 12 and under; $30 seniors; free for children 4 and under)
- DETAILS: This buffet-style brunch features Southern favorites, including shrimp and grits, fried chicken, and carved meats with desserts and sides. Shrek the Musical Jr.
- WHERE: Morton Theatre (195 W. Washington St.)
- WHEN: Friday, May 8 through Sunday, May 10 ($15 adults; $12 students; free for children 3 and under)
- DETAILS: Produced by The Studio Athens, this musical features a cast of local youth performers who will bring a kid-friendly version of “Shrek the Musical” to life through acting, singing, and dance. EXPO 2026: 30 Years of Kindercore
- WHERE: 40 Watt Club, 285 W Washington St
- WHEN: Saturday, May 9 at 7 p.m. ($25 admission)
- DETAILS: The final night of Kindercore Records’ 30th anniversary party features performances by Maserati, Insomniac, Shehehe, Vincas, and Gentleman Jesse, with additional sets on a secondary stage including The Agenda, Molly’s Lips, Big Trouble, BlackNerdNinja, and Noise Mountain.
