The Duchess of Gloucester stepped out with Queen Camilla to attend a special engagement in London on Thursday. The 79-year-old joined the Queen at the opening of the Monarchy exhibition at The Fan Museum yesterday.
The Royal Family’s official X page shared some pictures from the visit, including a caption that read: “The exhibition features around 80 fans spanning three centuries of royal history, including two from Her Majesty’s own personal collection, and is open to the public now at The Fan Museum, Greenwich.”
Although a very valued member of the Firm, the Duchess of Gloucester has made very few visits – especially alongside the Queen.
Taking to X, fans appeared impressed by the joint engagement, with one fan commenting: “The Duchess of Gloucester always looks wonderful. Always dressed to perfection.”
A second simply wrote: “She is so lovely.” Referring to her as “fascinating”, another wrote: “I would love to see a documentary on her!! She sounds fascinating!!”
The previous day, the royal also joined the King, Queen, Princess Anne and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh at the first Garden Party of the year at Buckingham Palace.
The event, which was held on the third anniversary of the King’s Coronation, saw the royals step out despite the grey British weather.
During yesterday’s engagement in London, Queen Camilla was formally presented with the fan depicted in her official coronation portrait.
Although she was previously shown holding it in Paul Benney’s painting, the Queen had not seen the actual fan until this visit.
Commissioned by the Worshipful Company of Fan Makers, it was presented by Master of the Livery Dinesh Naidu. During the visit, she was heard saying: “It is so beautiful. I shall use it on very special occasions. I am deeply honoured to have it.”
