Ken Jennings is brushing up on a new trivia category.
The former Jeopardy! champion-turned-host caught up with PEOPLE exclusively at the opening night of the TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood, Calif., on April 30. During the conversation, he shared that he’s recently been absorbing information on a new topic.
“I’m trying to see all the Major League ballparks with my son, [Dylan],” Ken, 51, said.
“And so a lot of these are places I’ve never been, and so now I’m like, ‘Hey, I have trivia about Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. I know about the fountains and the waterfalls now.’ So I’m accumulating Major League ballpark trivia at an alarming rate,” he added.
In addition to Dylan, born in 2002, Ken is also dad to daughter, Caitlin, born in 2006, both of whom he shares with his wife, Mindy Jennings.

The television personality also revealed that hosting an iconic trivia show gives him an extremely specific parenting advantage at home — something which he told PEOPLE drives his wife crazy.
“Weirdly, [my job] gives me a bit of a parenting advantage,” Ken explained.
He added, “Like, if you’re the host of Jeopardy!, your kids will believe you when you try to parent. And it drives my wife bonkers. [She’ll be] like, ‘I just said that same thing. Why are you believing, Dad?’ And they’re like, ‘Host of Jeopardy!‘ “

Ken also shared what he considers to be one of his strongest trivia categories.
“One of my stronger categories [is movies],” he told PEOPLE.
“I grew up as a kid reading Leonard Maltin’s Movie Guide as if it were … whatever other kids read, Harry Potter or Hardy Boys,” he explained, referring to the highly influential, annual collection of movie reviews first published in 1969.

“My book was the Leonard Maltin Movie Guide, and I just wanted to see everything,” he continued, adding, “Luckily, my parents had a wall of VHS [tapes].”
“They were illegally taping off TCM. Sorry. That’s why I’m here to support the network,” he jokingly added.
