On Saturday, May 9, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos affirmed that there has been progress in the search for Nancy Guthrie.
Fox News reporters approached Nanos outside his department. While the sheriff did not answer questions about an update to the case, he said his department was close to solving it. Nanos replied, “We are,” as he entered his car, per The Hill.
A retired FBI agent believes that blood evidence indicates that Nancy Guthrie was alive when she was taken from her Tucson, Arizona, home in the early morning hours of February 1.
Doorbell camera surveillance footage shows an unidentified masked man trying to cover the camera. Meanwhile, blood, which was confirmed to be Nancy’s, was found near the front door, with a small trail of droplets heading toward her driveway.
The blood shows Guthrie “was alive at that time,” when she was taken from the home, Jim Clemente, who spent over two decades with the FBI, told Fox News Digital.
“That’s based on his analysis of blood on her front porch,” he said. “There was a concentration of round droplets near the front door, then a thinning trail toward her driveway.”
Clemente went on to add, “She must have aspirated and then coughed up blood with her face very close to the ground, and I don’t believe that would have happened had two people been carrying her at that point.”
Clemente thinks the intruder forced Nancy out of her bed before things turned violent as they reached the front door.
“I believe that what it means is he threatened her with his gun when he was at her bedside,” he continued. “He got her to come down, and at the front door is where she realized he’s going to take me and this is very dangerous and I should fight. And she did.”

My brother, he spent his career in the military and worked in intelligence and is brilliant, and he saw very clearly right away what this was. Even on the phone, when we called him, he knew.”
