The investigation into the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, has hit the 14-week mark, but authorities have yet to release any new information or significant breakthroughs in the case.
While many are starting to fear that the investigation into the disappearance of the Today Show host‘s mother has gone cold, Sheriff Chris Nanos affirmed that there has been progress in the search. Meanwhile, there have been some insights into blood evidence found at Nancy’s Catalina Foothills home located in Tucson, Arizona.
As the investigation continues, Savannah honored her mother on Mother’s Day by posting a heartfelt montage featuring previously unseen footage. She also urged the public once again to call a hotline with any information.
Savannah wrote alongside the video, “mother, daughter, sister, Nonie – we miss you with every breath. We will never stop looking for you. We will never be at peace until we find you.”
Here are all the recent updates on the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
On Saturday, May 9, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos affirmed that there has been progress in the search for Nancy Guthrie.
Fox News reporters approached Nanos outside his department. While the sheriff did not answer questions about an update to the case, he said his department was close to solving it. Nanos replied, “We are,” as he entered his car, per The Hill.
A retired FBI agent believes that blood evidence indicates that Nancy Guthrie was alive when she was taken from her Tucson, Arizona, home in the early morning hours of February 1.
Doorbell camera surveillance footage shows an unidentified masked man trying to cover the camera. Meanwhile, blood, which was confirmed to be Nancy’s, was found near the front door, with a small trail of droplets heading toward her driveway.
The blood shows Guthrie “was alive at that time,” when she was taken from the home, Jim Clemente, who spent over two decades with the FBI, told Fox News Digital.
“That’s based on his analysis of blood on her front porch,” he said. “There was a concentration of round droplets near the front door, then a thinning trail toward her driveway.”
Clemente went on to add, “She must have aspirated and then coughed up blood with her face very close to the ground, and I don’t believe that would have happened had two people been carrying her at that point.”
Clemente thinks the intruder forced Nancy out of her bed before things turned violent as they reached the front door.
“I believe that what it means is he threatened her with his gun when he was at her bedside,” he continued. “He got her to come down, and at the front door is where she realized he’s going to take me and this is very dangerous and I should fight. And she did.”

On Sunday, May 10, Savannah wrote alongside the video, “mother, daughter, sister, Nonie – we miss you with every breath. We will never stop looking for you. We will never be at peace until we find you.”
She continued, “We need help. Someone knows something that can make the difference. Call 1800CALLFBI. You can be anonymous and the reward remains available. Please keep praying. Bring her home,” accompanied by a yellow heart emoji.
This follows an emotional Mother’s Day tribute from Savannah’s husband, Michael Feldman, who shared a photo of the broadcaster embracing their children with the caption, “To the strongest person I know. Surrounding you with love on Mother’s Day.” He included multiple heart emojis with the image.
Speaking with her Today co-host Hoda Kotb in March, just weeks before her return to work in April, Savannah opened up, “My siblings are so amazing. My brother, he spent his career in the military and worked in intelligence and is brilliant, and he saw very clearly right away what this was. Even on the phone, when we called him, he knew.”
She continued, “He said ‘I think she’s been kidnapped for ransom.’ I just didn’t wanna believe it and I said, ‘Do you think because of me?’ and he said, ‘Yeah maybe.’ But I knew that. But we still don’t know, we don’t know anything. I don’t know that it’s because she’s my mom. That would make sense, but we don’t know.”
In a deeply emotional moment, she then directed a heartfelt apology toward her mother, saying, “Which is too much to bear. To think that I brought this to her, that it’s because of me. I just say I’m so sorry mommy, I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry to my mum and my sister. If it is me, I’m so sorry.”
