Phoebe Bridgers played two intimate and phone-free shows over the weekend, in which she debuted four new songs.

It marks the first solo activity from the singer-songwriter since the release of her sophomore album Punisher back in 2020, which shot her to further acclaim with beloved indie hits such as ‘Kyoto’ and ‘I Know The End’.

However, since the end of her supergroup Boygenius’ tour, alongside Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, in 2023, Bridgers has not been seen in the public eye, making her comeback, which had been predicted at the start of this year, one that fans were highly anticipating.

To this end, the ‘Motion Sickness’ singer played two shows over the past weekend – one in Roswell, New Mexico, and the other in Lubbock, Texas, teasing fans with new material in her first live shows in almost three years.

After playing a selection of her greatest hits over both nights, which included ‘Moon Song’, ‘Scott Street’, and ‘Graceland Too’, she also made the live debut for four new songs, presumably taken from an upcoming wider project.

Fans were not allowed to take any electronic devices or to take any kind of notes at the event, so it is not known at this time what the songs were called, but a setlist uploaded online after the Texas show on May 9th indicated that one track may have been named ‘The Lost Boys’.

The intimacy of the shows was heightened since Bridgers nor any of her team advertised them via their own social media. Instead, posters were circulated on the day of the performances by fans online, stating that audiences would be let in on a first-come, first-served basis.

Although there is speculation that the singer could be set to play more similarly intimate shows before the official launch of any new music, the fact that she was preparing for a comeback was inadvertently revealed by her mother earlier in the year.

In January, Jamie Gandola Bridgers reposted an Instagram Story by Rolling Stone in which a fan predicted that Bridgers could be releasing new music this year, thus seemingly confirming that some form of plans were being set in motion.
