Vin Diesel is teasing the future of the Fast & Furious franchise on the small screen

Vin Diesel is giving Fast & Furious fans new reason to celebrate.
The actor, 58, appeared at the NBCUniversal Upfront presentation on Monday, May 11 in New York City, where he revealed that a new TV series is in development from the franchise.
“For the last decade, we have realized that the fans have wanted more,” Diesel told the crowd alongside Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon. “They wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories. And for the last decade, the desire has been for us to enter the TV space.”
He added that Peacock is “launching” new “shows from the Fast and Furious universe,” though plot details were not revealed.
While Diesel — who has appeared as Dominic Toretto in the film franchise since 2001 — teased four shows coming from Peacock, insiders at the streamer told both Deadline and Variety that only one is set up for now, with others reportedly in various stages of development at Universal TV.

The series in the works from Peacock and Universal Television will be executive produced by Diesel, Sam Vincent, Jeff Kirschenbaum, Chris Morgan, Neal Moritz and Pavun Shetty. Co-showrunners are Mike Daniels (Sons of Anarchy) and Wolfe Coleman (Shades of Blue).
The Fast franchise is already home to the animated series, Fast & Furious Spy Racers, which premiered on Netflix in 2019 and concluded in 2021. As for the movies, following the June 2001 release of The Fast and the Furious, 11 additional films have been made including spinoff Hobbs & Shaw.
The 11th mainline film, Fast Forever, has long been rumored to serve as the franchise’s final entry and is set to release in March 2028. Fast X, the latest film in the franchise, made $704.8 million at the worldwide box office upon its release in May 2023.
During a surprise appearance at FuelFest in June 2025, Diesel teased the forthcoming film and an appearance from the late Paul Walker in some capacity. Per Entertainment Weekly, Diesel said he promised a new film under “three conditions.”
“First, is to bring the franchise back to L.A. The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing,” he said. “The third thing was reuniting [Diesel’s character] Dom and [Walker’s character] Brian O’Conner.”
Back in 2024, fellow star Ludacris opened up to PEOPLE about the franchise and that “hopefully another Fast & Furious” film was in his future. He made his debut as Tej Parker in 2003’s 2 Fast 2 Furious and most recently reprised the role in Fast X.
“The last one was open-ended, so to speak. It kind of left people hanging,” he said. “I feel like we are definitely going to come back at some point very soon to surprise everyone. Will it be the last? I don’t know, but we shall see.”
“A lot of other franchises, they may end, but they don’t really end,” he added. “It’s almost like the beginning of something new, so I don’t feel like it’ll ever truly end either, but you never know.”
