Royal Examiner reached out to Family Fun Day organizer, self-referenced as Crazy Wyllie of C&C Frozen Treats, who, with wife Nina, co-sponsored the 11th annual event that has become a staple of the annual celebration of downtown Front Royal.

This is what he had to say about this year’s event on Saturday, May 9, 2026:

“Well, another beautiful Family Fun Day has come to pass.  Would love to say thank you to all who helped to make this year’s event a success.  Keep an eye out over the next few days for the hand-print paint job on the town trolley,” he told us, adding that, “650 pounds of ‘Mud Bugs’ were cooked and served to an attendance of about 4,000 people throughout this beautiful day. Looking forward to 2027.”

So, are we, Wyllie, SO, are we!

If you like to have fun and learn a little about downtown FR, the 11th annual Front Royal Family Fun Day was memorable.

Huck singled out The OG’s for providing quality music throughout the event, as well as all the vendors and informational booths. And along with Wyllie and Nina we give a special nod to Luray-based stilt walker Charlene Johnson for her interactions with attendees both young and old, and her special agility with the Hula Hoop.

We will continue our visual exploration of the event, starting with Ms. Stilt-walker Johnson during some of those referenced interactions:

Two perspectives on the OGs musical backdrop to the day’s events — Great job, Guys. And stilt-walker Charlene thanks you too for the danceable material mix.

What’s this we hear about a hand-painted adjustment to the Town Trolley?

Above, the E. Main St. road was closed east of Chester St., and below is the line of vendors and businesses benefitting from that road closure and on-foot pedestrian traffic throughout the day and early evening.

And on the other end of the Gazebo-anchored park was this impressive array of sculpted home welcoming, or unwelcoming at your choice, figures.
