On April 12, Touro University California held its Public Health Annual Spring Symposium ‘Beyond Borders: Promoting Health Among Refugee, Immigrant, and Displaced Populations’ at the Farragut Inn Ballroom in Mare Island. Several nationally-renowned subject matter experts, along with students, faculty, and community partners, discussed: Session I — Clinical and Public Health Considerations in Caring for Refugee and Immigrant Populations and Session II — Interdisciplinary Approaches to Addressing Health Needs of Immigrant and Displaced Populations. To conclude the informative event, Assemblymember Mia Bonta, Chair of the Health Committee, gave the keynote address, and everyone was pleasantly surprised to also see her husband, Attorney General Rob Bonta. The Project Manager Brian Woodson, President Kittie Cox, the VVMB Council, and all the veterans who use the county-owned facility are grateful to all the Vallejo Lowes volunteers for the much-improved lighting that is also immensely saving electricity costs. She is the author of the book “Dauntless: The 1st and; 2nd Filipino Infantry Regiments, United States Army” which details the untold story of 7,000 World War II US Soldiers supported by Filipino guerrillas who systematically conducted secret operations to pave the way for the US Army and Naval Forces to liberate the Philippines.
