There’s one genre of music Nick Jonas says his daughter can’t get enough of.
The musician and actor, 33, tells PEOPLE during a recent interview with his Power Ballad costar Paul Rudd, 57, that his 4-year-old daughter Malti, whom he shares with wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas, is currently listening to a wide range of music. But there’s one genre that she’s been singing “nonstop,” he reveals during the conversation.
“Well, our daughter’s 4, and she’s got a pretty wide range in music that she likes,” he says. “Recently, she was introduced to [John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads”], and she’s been singing it nonstop. And there’s nothing cuter than a little 4-year-old singing that song.”

Jonas occasionally shares sweet moments of his life as a girl dad during interviews and on social media. During a panel tied to his new film at New York City’s 92NY on Monday, May 18, Jonas joined Rudd and director John Carney to chat with Josh Horowitz. When Horowitz asked Nick if any songs or films made him emotional, the “Jealous” singer got candid about a family film that continues to resonate years later as a dad
“Well, I’ll say there are two scenes in [Power Ballad] that I’m not in, and they hit me super hard as a father,” he replied. “Then, outside of that, when I cry over a movie, it’s The Lion King.”
“You know, things that I’m getting to watch with my daughter these days and kind of read some of those experiences, the stories that shaped who I became, and now I’m sharing that with her. It’s a totally special thing to experience,” Jonas added, noting that he also “always” cries during movies on planes.

The A Very Jonas Christmas Movie star couldn’t be prouder to be a girl dad.
During the 2025 JONASCON event, he told PEOPLE, “The best part about being a dad for me and balancing things like this work stuff — and this is hardly work — is that you could feel like your coolest self on top of the world, and she just doesn’t care at all.”
“She wants to play Moana and Maui with me, and that means more to me than anything else, is that time with her. And just the fact that I’m just Dad when I’m home, it means a lot,” he added.

In Jonas’ new film, Power Ballad, he plays Danny Wilson, a former boy band singer who finds renewed success after stealing a song from a man named Rick, played by Rudd.
The film’s synopsis reads, “When Rick, a past-his-prime wedding singer, meets fading boy-band star Danny during a gig, the two bond over music and a late-night jam session. But when Danny turns one of Rick’s songs into the hit that reignites his career, Rick sets out to reclaim the recognition he believes he deserves — even if it means risking everything he cares about.”
Power Ballad is now playing in theaters.
