Loose Women star Coleen Nolan shared an update about her love life while reflecting on her experience on the Channel 4 series Celebs Go Dating
Coleen Nolan has opened up about her bittersweet journey on Celebs Go Dating and shared an honest verdict on her co-stars. The 61-year-old joined the programme hoping to discover love once more after two failed marriages and the end of her most recent known public relationship in 2023.
While agents Paul C Brunson, Anna Williamson and Dr Tara Suwinyattichaiporn did their best to help her secure a match, the Loose Women star left the programme without a love interest.
Nevertheless, she heaped praise on both the agents and her fellow participants – though jokingly described the show’s narrator, Rob Beckett, as “vicious”.
Chatting to her son Shane and daughter Ciara on their Nolans Uncensored podcast, she said of the experience: “I’ve got to say, I’ve never had so much fun doing a TV show as I have on Celebs Go Dating.
“It’s been one of the best jobs I’ve ever done because we’ve laughed and everyone has been amazing. This isn’t me being showbiz, you’d know I’d go, ‘There’s one that’s a d**k’. There isn’t, there isn’t one k**b in it.”
Coleen continued by characterising the series as “one of the hardest” she’s participated in due to the demanding 14 to 15-hour filming schedules, though stressed that she had “the best time” with her fellow cast members.
“Unfortunately, the dating side of it has been an absolute disaster for me,” she added. In response, her son joked: “I can’t wait for Rob Beckett to take the p**s out of you,” to which she replied: “Ah, I can’t. He does the narration over it and he’s vicious. But yeah [with the dating], it’s just not happened for me.
“And then the one time when I thought, ‘Oh I had a great date’, he got rid of me. I think we both knew it was a friendship thing.
“But here’s my issue, every date they’ve got me is [from] Essex, I live in bl***y Staffordshire. It’s just too far, so that’s been an issue but there’s just no one with that [romantic spark].”
Praising the show’s experts, she concluded: “But the agents, the therapy has been absolutely brilliant and I think from the start to the end, I’ve massively changed.”
While discussing the programme, Coleen admitted that her romantic life has been “non-existent” following her split from most recent partner, Michael Jones, in 2023.
She’s walked down the aisle twice – initially to Shane Richie between 1990 and 1999, and subsequently to Ray Fensome, to whom she was wed for 11 years from 2007 until 2018.
Issuing an update following her latest separation, she added: “I’ve been out on a few dates as far as dating apps, and they’ve been lovely. And actually, I’ve stayed friends with them. That’s my issue. I stay friends with everyone. I’m definitely not looking for another friend. So yeah, it’s not been bad.
“The thing is, I’m not desperate. I’m not, “Oh, my God. I’ve got to meet someone.” Would I like to meet someone? Absolutely. That would be lovely.”
