The Princess of Wales will embark on a new “global mission” to seek out the world’s best child-rearing methods.
In what is described as a “huge moment” for her return to work after cancer, the Princess is starting a two-day trip to Italy on Wednesday to learn more about its early childhood education.
It is part of a new schedule of overseas trips she has planned after taking several years away from travel to undergo chemotherapy.
She will return to the country where she spent her gap year on a fact-finding mission that aides called “an important step” for her early-childhood project.
“This is a huge moment for the Princess,” said a palace aide. “There will be many highlights of 2026, but this being her first international visit post her recovery… this is a really significant moment for her.”
The Princess will land in Italy on Wednesday for the two-day visit to Reggio Emilia. The city is known for its early childhood ethos, based around building environments to allow children to discover themselves through play, art, nature and their relationship with the caregivers.
The Princess, who is said to have read widely on the method, will speak to teachers, parents, community elders and spend time with young children at play.
