Expanding on the success of episodic entries like Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel Studios has unveiled the return of one of it’s most iconic characters with The Punisher: One Last Kill.
Set to once again star Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, One Last Kill is being positioned as a gritty, character-driven action fest for the fan-favorite vigilante. The special will lean heavily into the grounded, violent tone that defined the character’s previous appearances in the Netflix-era series and his recent reintroduction into the MCU through the Daredevil: Born Again series.
For the most recent entry in the Frank Castle saga, The Punisher: One Last Kill continues the franchise’s reputation for platforming heavy music. Though not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, 2008’s Punisher: War Zone notably featured huge names as part of the soundtrack. From Rob Zombie to Slayer, Slipknot’s anthem “Psychosocial” and Hatebreed’s take on the Sepultura classic “Refuse/Resist,” few franchises have the metal music gravitas as The Punisher.
For the most recent installment, The Punisher: One Last Kill opens with a nod to the one and only Danzig, as “Mother” is featured in the opening scene. Additionally, Hatebreed is back in the mix, as their definitive 2002 hit, “I Will Be Heard” is paired with a violent fight scene in the film.
The Punisher: One Last Kill is currently streaming via Disney+
