ST. LOUIS, Mo. — It’s called the “Show-Me Showdown,” but most know it as the “I-70 Series.” Missouri’s major league baseball teams — the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Royals — meet for the first time this season at Busch Stadium.
It’s a tale of two cities this weekend — each on the opposite side of the “Show-Me State” linked by Interstate 70.

The St. Louis Cardinals are hosting the Kansas City Royals for the three-game series.
The meeting of these two teams is now considered to be a midwest staple and a Missouri tradition — one that started over 30 years ago.
The most famous I-70 Series iteration was the 1985 World Series.
The Cardinals were looking to win their 10th World Series title, while the Royals were seeking their first.
In game seven, the Royals made history with an 11-to-0 win over the Cardinals, securing Kansas City’s first World Series.
Thirty years later, the meeting of these two teams has a World Series feel to it, with each game drawing large crowds.

In St. Louis, you’re likely to find just as many Royal’s fans as there are Cardinal’s fans.
No matter which team hosts, whoever comes out on top during the I-70 Series can call themselves Missouri’s major league champion.
