Raye has revealed that she pushed herself to her limit while working on her latest album, This Music May Contain Hope.
The seven-time Brit Award winner has opened up about the intense workload she has taken on since releasing her debut studio album, My 21st Century Blues, in 2023.
Speaking to Billboard, Raye explained that work has dominated her life since her career reached new heights three years ago.
“There just comes a time in your life where, like, you have to, or you choose to, prioritise something over another, so I think in my case, like, work has really been my life for the last year, two years, three years,” she shared.
The Escapism hitmaker added that balancing the demands of touring while creating her second album left her exhausted.
“But I think this last year with this album, and the amount of touring, and just the vibe in general, I’ve really definitely pushed myself to, like, my limit,” she told the publication.
The Where Is My Husband singer said she is now looking forward to slowing down following the album’s release in March.
“I’ve worked really, really hard and I’m really happy to, like, finally let this album go and, you know, be able to just have a little bit more balance. So I think now it can just be shows and rest time,” she shared.
“Whereas before, it was shows, and then the studio and writing, and editing, and production, and so I’m excited to have finally just handed this off because I think also it can allow a little more space for…”
Raye, real name Rachel Keen, then acknowledged that the pressure she experienced largely came from her own ambitions for the project.
“By the way, like, I was the one who chose to make an album like this, and I was the one who had all these ambitious goals and ideas for it, and things I wanted to do and achieve,” she stated.
Raye is currently on tour across the U.S. and the U.K., performing headline arena shows as part of her This Tour May Contain New Music trek.
