Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is once again facing scrutiny, this time over explosive new claims about his behavior as a child inside the royal household. According to former palace insiders, the former Duke of York allegedly became notorious among royal staff for being disruptive, mischievous, and at times difficult to manage during his younger years at royal estates including Sandringham House.
And behind the polished palace image, insiders claim tensions between Andrew and exhausted staff members reportedly became so intense that some confrontations allegedly became physical. Former employees allege the young prince frequently played aggressive pranks, mocked staff, and pushed boundaries in ways many workers quietly resented but felt powerless to challenge because of his royal status.
“There was a feeling among some staff that Andrew was indulged far beyond what most children would ever get away with,” one former palace insider claimed. “Tempers snapped from time to time because people felt they were expected to tolerate conduct that would never have been accepted from anyone else.” Former royal staffers alleged that frustration inside the palace built for years as employees struggled to deal with Andrew’s behavior while still maintaining strict royal protocol.
One particularly shocking claim alleges stable workers at the Royal Mews finally lost patience after repeated antics from the young prince and allegedly dumped him into a pile of manure in retaliation. Other former employees claimed staff sometimes quietly “got back” at Andrew after enduring repeated pranks and taunts for extended periods of time. “People absolutely dreaded certain days when he was in a particularly mischievous mood,” another insider alleged.
“There were stories about elbows catching him in corridors or trays clipping him during service, and most people inside the household understood exactly why it was happening.” Another former palace source claimed Andrew became obsessed with using a catapult while staying at Sandringham and would allegedly fire projectiles at staff and estate workers for amusement.
According to the insider, one furious employee eventually retaliated after days of frustration by deliberately tripping the young royal into mud. “Some staff felt powerless because he was a prince and there were limits to what anyone could say,” the source explained. “So resentment built up and occasionally boiled over in childish or physical ways.”
The allegations paint a picture of a deeply tense atmosphere behind palace doors, where staff reportedly struggled with growing frustration. One insider claimed a courtier eventually lost patience during an altercation and struck Andrew on the nose after what was described as constant disruptive behavior. Despite complaints from staff, insiders allege concerns surrounding Andrew were often brushed aside within palace circles during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
