The Prince of Wales will appear on a special live broadcast of Heart Breakfast on Friday, during his two-day trip to Cornwall. William, who is also known as the Duke of Cornwall, will visit St Mary’s on the Isles of Scilly on Friday to open a new hospital facility.
While he’s there, the heir to the throne will appear on Heart radio alongside hosts Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden, having personally invited the pair to join him on the islands.
William said: “Hi Jamie and Amanda, I’m heading down to the Isles of Scilly, off the coast of Cornwall, on Friday, to see some of the terrific work going on there to support the local community. I’m also opening the new wing of the hospital in St Mary’s, which will be a fantastic moment. Amanda, I know how fond you are of Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly, so, it would be really lovely, if you could both come along. Have a great morning guys and I very much look forward to seeing you on Friday. Bye!”
The broadcast, from 6:30-10am, will come after the prince spent the day in Cornwall on Thursday, and before he visits the Isles of Scilly Hospital. It will mark the first time the radio station has broadcast live from the Isles of Scilly.
Arriving on St Mary’s aboard the island’s new pilot boat ‘John Guy’, which will support the safety of the island waters, including guiding passage for large ships, the prince arrived at the local hospital to meet staff and patients and open a new facility.
William has taken a close interest in the development of healthcare provision on Scilly, working with partners to help bring this vital project forward, Kensington Palace said.
They added that the community-led extension, supported by the Duchy of Cornwall, reflects this commitment, transforming access to healthcare on the islands and securing a more resilient, future-proof model of care.
While on the island, the prince will see the near-complete construction site of 10 new sustainable homes being delivered by the Duchy of Cornwall.
The development has been designed to help tackle the Isles’ acute housing shortage, with homes prioritised for those who have lived on the Isles of Scilly for more than five years, or who currently work on the islands.
Once complete, the homes will feature high levels of insulation, positive ventilation throughout and rooftop solar panels.
Each property will also include a dedicated parking space for the island car-share scheme, with provision for electric vehicle charging points. The homes are expected to welcome their first residents in winter 2026.
